Powells Pocosin	NW Bertie County.
Powells Point	tip of the peninsula of S Currituck County in Albemarle Sound. Appears in local records as early as 1665 and on the Ogilby map, 1671. The community (and post office, est. 1818) of Powells Point is 6½ mi. n.
Powellsville	town in N central Bertie County. Post office est. 1879; inc. 1887. Named for a local family and originally known as Powell's Crossroads. Alt. 67.
Powellton	community in NW Richmond County. A post office operated there, 1829-1918. Named for Pleasant M. Powell.
Powelltown	community on the outskirts of Lenoir, central Caldwell County. Named for a British soldier, Elias Powell (d. 1831), who remained in the area following the Battle of Kings Mountain, 1780. Known earlier as Powellton.
Powelltown	community in S Transylvania County near the mouth of East Fork French Broad River.
Powers Branch	rises in E Mitchell County and flows SE into Fall Creek.
Powhatan	community in N Johnston County. Alt. 294.
Poyner Hill	formerly a sand hill on S Currituck Banks, E Currituck County. Erosion has almost obliterated the hill. During World War II, a temporary Coast Guard base was located there.
Prather Gap	W Yancey County between Possumtrot and Price Creeks.
