IN garner, are the middle schools the old segreated high schools? I was told they were but I wanted to confirm. What were the school colors? When did they combine to Garner high school?

Hello --

Thank you for visiting NCpedia and posting these questions.

After consulting collections here at the North Carolina Government and Heritage Library we were not able to find any information addressing these questions. Here are some suggestions for other organizations that might be able to help you:

Olivia Raney Local History Library – specializes in Wake County local history

Wake County Public Schools

Garner Magnet High School (you may want to contact the school library)

I hope this helps!  Good luck with your search,

Articles on the history of each school: North Carolina School for the Deaf and Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf not available in NCPEDIA?

Dear Hal,

Thanks for visiting NCpedia and asking your question.

We do have several articles on exceptional education in North Carolina, although not an article specifically on the NC School for the deaf.  Please see our entries "Special Education" and the "Governor Morehead School." In addition, we have numerous entries on efforts and individuals involved in the development of the state's educational programs for the blind and deaf -- see these links

I hope these resources help.  If not, please feel free to post back through our comments feature with additional questions.

A copy of this reply is also being sent to the email address included with this post.

Best wishes,

Kelly Agan, Government & Heritage Library
