Gibson's Mill	community in central Richmond County served by post office, 1878-1907.
Gibsonville	town in E Guilford and W Alamance Counties. Alt. 728. Est. 1855 and inc. 1871. Named for Joseph Gibson (1785-1857), local land and slave owner who was active in contracting and grading for the North Carolina Railroad. A station est. about 1 mi. N of his home was named for him and became the town.
Giddensville	community in NE Sampson County on the W edge of Bear Pocosin.
Gideon	community in E Stokes County served by post office, 1898-1916.
Gideon Swamp	rises in N Nash County and flows SE into Sandy Creek.
Giesky Creek	rises in S Clay County and flows NW into Shooting Creek.
Gift	community in S Johnston County served by post office, 1887-1903.
Gilbert	community in N Moore County served by post office, 1887-1906.
Gilbert Town	former county seat of Rutherford County, 1781-85. Site, now abandoned, is a short distance N of Rutherfordton in the center of the county on Hollands Creek. Named for William Gilbert, owner of the land. Campsite for both sides prior to Battle of Kings Mountain, October 1780.
Gilberts Creek	rises in S Stanly County and flows S into Rocky River.
