A total of 28 amendments have been passed since (1972 - 2004) the 1971 revision of the state constitution. Please refer to Chapter 3 of the North Carolina Manual, http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/pubsweb/manual.aspx. There is a helpful table that includes the number of amendments from 1868 - 2004 (page 104).

What amendments to the 1971

What amendments to the 1971 constitution have been ratified by the voters in odd-numbered years? Also, have any proposed amendments to the 1971 constitution been rejected by the voters? Thank you. Lee Mortimer, Durham, NC

Amendments since

Amendments since 1971.

Since 1971, there have only been 2 occasions on which NC voters have been presented with off-year votes on Constitutional matters . One was in 1977, when 5 amendments were offered.  All of them passed.

The other was in 1993--only one amendment was offered, but it was defeated.

Since 1971, 35 amendments have been offered.  Of these, 28 have passed.
