Redstone Pointon the mainland of N Dare County extending into Croatan Sound. The William B. Umstead Bridge, approx. 3 mi. long and opened on December 22, 1956, extends from the point to Weir Point on NW Roanoke Island; named for Governor William B. Umstead (1895-1954).
Redwoodcommunity in E Durham County on Neuse River. Est. 1890. Named for red oaks growing in the vicinity. Flourished, 1895-1917. Following the removal of a lumber mill during World War I, the community declined.
