Big Governors Creek

rises in E Moore County and flows NW into Deep River on the Moore-Lee county line. Called Millstone Creek in a 1748 grant to Governor Gabriel Johnston. Named for Johnston, who owned 7,000 acres N of the creek. Appears as Governors Creek on the Collet map, 1770.

rises in E central Avery County and flows SW into Linville River.
