S Onslow County. Largely tidal marsh, it lies between Brown's Island and Onslow Beach and the mainland and extends from Bear Inlet to New River Inlet. It empties into the Atlantic Ocean through Bear Inlet, Browns Inlet, and New River Inlet. Now within the limits of Camp Lejeune. |

in Yadkin River, SW Wilkes County. Named for Capt. John Brown, Revolutionary War soldier, who lived nearby and in whose home the first county government was organized in 1778. A bridge was built there after 1900, later replaced by a modern highway bridge. |
