a 20,000-acre area of peat and muck swamp extending NE from N Beaufort County across S and E Washington County into W Tyrrell County. See also Dogwood Ridge; New Lands.

rises in S Surry County and flows S to join West Double Creek in forming Double Creek.

East Fayetteville

unincorporated outskirts of city of Fayetteville, central Cumberland County 1½ mi. E of Market House.

East Flat Rock

former town in central Henderson County. Alt. 2,214. Inc. 1926; charter repealed by local action, 1948, and by act of the General Assembly, 1949. Est. as a commercial adjunct to the residential community of Flat Rock, which see.
