Coweeta

community in SW Macon County between the Nantahala Mountains and Little Tennessee River near Otto. Alt. 2,875. U.S. Forest Service hydrologic laboratory is located there. Older residents and old records use the spelling Coweta. Federal officials adopted the spelling Coweeta, and it now appears on maps and in official records.
