Educational philosopher John Dewey is often credited with the emergence of experiential education opportunities in schools. Dewey believed that students learn best by being active in guided activities in school, activities that draw on past experiences and create new ones. Experiential opportunities include activity-oriented group projects, outdoor activities, field trips, and internships.
