Definition:

This bread, traditionally prepared in Mexico for the Days of the Dead, is placed on the ofrenda along with other favorite foods and drinks of the departed family members. Afterwards, the bread and foods are rather unceremoniously eaten, because the spirits have sampled the food, and it is rendered "tasteless." No one would want the food to go to waste after the spirits have enjoyed it.
