The best-known print and engraving artist in Mexico. Posada (1851-1913) is the most well known print and engraving artist in Mexico. His macabre sense of humor and his sharp wit combined with a keen sense of Mexican folk arts including the calavera. Posada frequently got into trouble for many of his caricatures, but he adroitly managed to keep one step ahead of his critics. Many of his images have gained wide currency, and have been used by artists, musicians, and even T-shirt designers.
