(Nahuatl word; prounounced Tlah-lok) The Aztec rain god, similar to the Maya rain deity, Chac. The Mexica were dependent on the rains, and had known crop failures, droughts, and terrible floods. These disasters and catastrophic storms led them to conclude that these phenomena had to be controlled by humans placating the rain god with human sacrifice.
