Banana tree

A banana with fruit and a dark red flower at the end of the stem of the bunch. The fruit of the banana tree can be cut early or allowed to ripen on the tree. In Nepal the fruit is eaten raw and cooked, and the flower is eaten either pickled or cooked as vegetable. Often the fibers are used for textiles.
