Class reading

Class reading

Sheri Wieczorek reads a nonfiction book about Harriet Tubman to her fifth-grade class. As she reads, she asks the students to discuss similarities and differences between the informational text and the fictional book about Harriet Tubman they read the day before. Comparing nonfiction with historical fiction helps students develop the ability to read critically and build information literacy.
