Dismal Swamp Canal

Today we take transportation for granted, but it was hard work getting around North Carolina in the early nineteenth century. The Great Dismal Swamp canal is part of the Intercoastal Waterway. 

Dismal Swamp Canal. There is a wide waterway with a boat traveling across it. There are marsh trees and grasses grown on the banks. The sky is cloudy.
