Kaagbeni village

Kaagbeni village is located in an arid valley. In this picture buckwheat can be seen growing in terraced fields and houses with mud-covered roofs.Kaagbeni is in the trans-Himalayan region, which is also called the rain shadow, and it includes those lands to the north of the Himalayan range which receive very little rainfall as most of the rain clouds coming from the South are blocked by the northern Himalayan barrier.
