This mural at the Emerald Buddha Temple show the people of Ayudhya mourning below Sita’s empty throne.
At the lower right, men courtiers clasp their hands and kneel in prayer. At the lower left, royal women sit holding their hands to their faces and weeping in grief. The center of their attention is Sita’s empty throne, set in a pastel pink-tinted royal pavillion. Not only Rama misses his wife. The entire kingdom mourns her reported death and continues to visit her empty throne.
