On 25 of 40 miscellaneous maps, 1795-1930, the section of the mountains between Pigeon River and the French Broad River bears no name; and the names on 15 maps vary between Iron, Great Iron, Smoky, and Great Smoky. There is also some usage of Max Patch. |
